All About Nora

Hi, my name is Nora. I am excited to tell you about some of my favorite hobbies. I'm a student at Meigs Middle School and play for their Volleyball and Golf teams.

Volleyball

Volleyball is played with a ball and a net. 6 players from each team will have a side and the goal will be to land the ball in the opposing teams side during each serve. A serve is the first hit in the game and must be made from the backcourt of their side. All balls must make it over the net, and land in the oppposing teams box to score. Also, a team can only hit the ball three times before they hit it over the net. You can use any part of your body, but you can't let the ball land in your teams court. If a ball lands outside of the court on the opposing side your team cannot get the point. If ball lands outside of the courts after the opposing team hits the ball your team will earn a point. There are also rotations, but that's complicated in such a short time. I might upload a video to explain it better visually later.

Golf

Golf is such a W sport. In middle school, we play 6 holes and the max score you can take is a triple bogey, that means you're three over par. Par is the expected number of strokes it takes to hit a ball. You keep track of your score and your opponents. There are penalty areas like going into the water or out of bounds and that costs you strokes. I really love golf because it's so theraputic. It's so fun on tournament days and hanging out with your team. It's a lot of pressure, but it makes me lock-in.
